The Kindergarten Ready Resource Kit initiative began as a simple idea to distribute books and literacy bags to families. But this program has evolved into a collaborative, systems-driven effort to support families from early childhood through school entry.
Led in part by Grady Health System, the initiative builds on trusted pediatric relationships through the Talk With Me Baby® model, integrating age-specific literacy resources into well-child visits. But beyond resource distribution, partners work together to create a coordinated support system—one that connects healthcare, schools, and community resources to guide families along their literacy journey.
This shift reflects a deeper commitment to sustainability and impact. Rather than measuring success by the number of bags distributed, the collaborative is focused on meaningful outcomes: family engagement, language-rich interactions, and children entering kindergarten ready to learn.
As part of Literacy and Justice for All, this work is helping to build the infrastructure for long-term change, ensuring that every child, regardless of zip code, has access to the tools and support they need to thrive.
